development, implementation and evalu
ation of a commercial and environmental
horticulture program to meet the needs
of farmers agn businesses and urban
communities As a member of York
County s agriculture and horticulture
team provide research based informa
tion develop educational materials and
teach horticulture programs to reach a
variety of target audiences
A broad knowledge of horticulture will be
key in order to provide support to fruit
and vegetable growers greenhouse
operators and expertise in the area of
woody ornaments A Bachelors degree in
horticulture plant science or related field
with practical experience in the horticul
ture area (formal or informal experience
and/or education in woody ornamentals)
is required Experience in the develop
ment of curriculum educational and pro
motional materials using a variety of
media training and evaluation skills and
the ability to identify funding sources
relationship development and writing
grants and reports is highly desirable
Familiarity with principles of adult educa
tion and informal education systems is
helpful The successful candidate should
embrace diversity in the workplace have
strong human development skills m vot
unteer coordination computer proficien
cy and excellent oral and written commu
notion skills and be highly motivated
and a self/lmtiator Both evening and
weekend work are part of this position
Occasional overnight travel is required
This is a county funded fixed term
