Maryland Holstein Association Offers Scholarships
DICKERSON, Md. *— The following scholar
ships will be available to Maryland Holstein youth
in 2003-2004: a $2,000 scholarship to the Outstand
ing Maryland Holstein Scholar and four $750 schol
arships. These scholarships will be awarded at the
Maryland Holstein Convention to take place on the
Eastern Shore in March, 2004.
The scholarships are offered to Maryland 4-H/
FFA youth who are enrolled or have been enrolled
in a dairy project with Holstein cattle. Scholarships
are available to both undergraduate and graduate
students. Students must be attending a two-year or
four-year degree program in a College of Agricul
ture. The $2,000 Outstanding Maryland Holstein
Scholar Award is offered to the most outstanding
applicant based on scholastic achievements, 4-H/
FFA, Holstein project activities and accomplish
ments, school and community activities, and future
goals. Applicants are eligible to win a scholarship
twice but can win the $2,000 Outstanding Maryland
Holstein Scholar Award only once.
The first Maryland Holstein Scholarship was
awarded in 1973 when one scholarship was
awarded to the University of Maryland. Thanks to

Holstein members and friends the program has
grown in the number of awards given and the mone
tary levels.

972-8274, or other committee members. Applica
tions must be typed and include an official aca
demic transcript, and recent photo of the applicant.
All applications must be postmarked no later than
Jan. 1,2004.
