Dairylea Co-Op Recognizes Quality Producers SYRACUSE, N.Y. Dairylea Cooperative, Inc., honored member producers with top quality milk through the 2002-2003 Milk Quality Management Award Program at its annual meeting Oct. 14-15 in Liverpool, N.Y. Members are judged each month for 12- consecutive months on multiple criteria, including somatic cell count of 300,000 or less, no added water, no growth inhibitors, and no off flavor, odor, or questionable appearance. The following members are recognized as pro ducing the highest quality milk from June 2002- June 2003. They are among more than 117 members who qualified all 12 months of the program. The final, top quality rankings were based on the lowest index derived from dividing the average monthly standard plate count by 1,000 and the average monthly somatic cell count by 50,000 and then adding the two numbers together.
