The Mercantile Exchange posted limit-up gams on Tuesday in the live cattle pits, although it wasn't able to spark any sort of western trade. Boxed beef cutout values were reported higher Tuesday morning, with Choice carcasses from 167 00-169.00. It's the time of year when Tur key specials takes up a good portion of your grocers meat counter, and it would be safe to say that most stores are having a hard time con vincing shoppers to pick a high priced red meat item in place of the traditional turkey. The slaughter heifer and Holstein markets were not tested. Slaughter cows sold weak to 2.00 lower, although demand remains good es pecially for Premium White cows, as many packers are shying away from the continued high price of slaughter steers. The combined two-day run included 312 head of slaughter steers, 87 head of slaughter heifers, 422 head of slaughter cows, 17 head of slaughter bulls, and 289 head of feeder cattle.
