port (includes lambs sold in IL., IN., OH., MI.)
Compared to last week, slaughter lambs were
1.00-3.00 higher. Lambs under 100 lbs were up
to 6.00 higher. Slaughter ewes finished the week
mostly 1.00-2.00 higher. Goats were steady to
firm. Demand and trading activity were moder
ate. Ramadan holiday demand remained strong
especially for ewes and light weight lambs. Car
lot lamb carcass prices were mostly firm to 1.50
higher. Confirmed sales this week about 73%
slaughter lambs, 27% ewes and an additional
609 head of goats. Total sheep and lambs sales
1450, last week 1350 and year ago 950.

NATIONAL SLAUGHTER CATTLE SUMMARY - Week Ending
November 14 - Compared to last week; Slaughter cattle in the South
not tested at time of report. Northern markets lightly tested with few
sales 5.00-9.00 lower. Packer demand moderate as margins have dwin
dled. Boxed beef prices sliding this week as we head into the holidays
and the seasonal demand for beef usually declines. Feedlots continue
to hold their positions as supplies remain tight. Boxed beef values Fri
day morning averaged 155.70 down 4.30 from I ast Friday. Sales of
slaughter cattle on a national basis for negotiated cash trades continue
very light thru 10:00 am. Friday morning totaling 69,400 head. Last
week’s frill count was 195,775 head.
Midwest Direct Markets: Live Basis; Steers and Heifers: 35-80 per
cent Choice, 900-1400 lbs 100.00-106.00, wtd avg 101.86. Dressed
Basis; Steers and Heifers 35-80 percent Choice, 550-950 lbs.

Slaughter Cows and Bulls (Average Yielding Prices): Slaughter
cows and bulls 1.00-3.00 higher. After the first week of cold air across
the nation cow numbers should be on the rise at area markets, how
ever most cows were marketed early to catch the unseasonably high
cow and bull markets. Demand good for slaughter cows and bulls but
many cows continue to return to pasture or feedlots USDA's Cutter
cow carcass cut-out value closed Thursday at 101 32, up 2 12 from last
Friday
