Manure Applicator
Tuesday, December 16,2003
Dauphin County Agriculture & Resources Center
1451 Peters Mountain Rd.
Dauphin, PA 17081
Today’s manure applicators are faced with many issues and public pressures Regulations geared towards pio
tectmg water and air quality that are being implemented by dairy and livestock produccis arc having direct elfccts
on commercial manure applicators Additional concerns of the industry involve toad transput! and safety issues
The Manure Hauler Certification Course has been designed to educate applicators on the laws and issues that are
faced by their industry and to help them to address the issues within then businesses and community To receive
the voluntary certification an individual must attend an educational field day and attend a classioom session
Either step can be completed before the other A $lO 00 charge for the classroom session will be collected at the
door
Many who are in or dose to the hauling industry feel that the formation ol .1 manure apphcatoi association can
offer many benefits A few of the benefits an association could provide to the manure application mdustiy are a
voice m regulatory development, group insurances and provision ot employee benefit packages Following this
year’s classroom session a dinner and meeting will be held to discuss the advantages and mdustiy interest in asso
ciation formation A $l5 00 fee for dinner will be collected just prior to the meal
