tion Tuesday evening at the Her

2003 Distinguished Service to
Agriculture Award winner.

Wolff Opposes
USDA Butter
Release
HARRISBURG (Dauphin
Co.) Pennsylvania Agriculture
Secretary Dennis Wolff criticized
the USDA’s recent decision to
sell 3 million pounds of butter on
the open market, arguing that the
sale will depress dairy prices and
hurt Pennsylvania dairy farmers.
“I am deeply disappointed in
the USDA’s decision to sell the
butter from Commodity Credit
Corporation stocks on the com
mercial market,” said Wolff.
“Milk prices are just beginning to
show improvement. Now the
USDA’s decision to release these
stocks of butter will likely have
an adverse impact on prices re
ceived by dairy farmers.”

Nutrient Management Law for
Pennsylvania. The conclusion of
the two-part series looks closely
at the makeup of the Phosphorus
Index (P-Index) and the com
ment period for farmers.
Donaldson noted several high
lights of Hayes’ career, which in
cluded serving in the House of
Representatives as the majority
leader and whip and as secretary
of agriculture in the Ridge and
Schweiker administrations.
