KET. Majority of prices were unchanged on
both heavy and light canners when compared to
a week earlier Demand was moderate but most
traders were unaggressive. Trading was light,
however available offerings were clearing. Pro
cessing schedules were less than normal. The
undertone was steady.
Cents per pound, current negotiations with
out freight cost. LIGHT CANNER HENS Line
run without necks. 20-26 majority 23-23.75.

DOMESTIC MARKET HIGHLIGHTS: The
trade sentiment on frozen hens and 1624 lb.
toms was steady to firm. Frozen demand was
slow to moderate with interest consisting mostly
of distributive and fill-in interest. Offerings
mixed and varied by size and by processor.
Fresh demand for the November holidays is fair
to good as processors divert their attention from
frozen whole turkeys to fresh. Some industry
members continued to watch the retail strike in
the West for market ramifications as Thanks
giving approaches. Trading activity was season
ally light on most parts and meat items.
EXPORT MARKET HIGHLIGHTS. Trad
ing slow. Demand overall was light. Inquiry for
Russian approved thigh meat was light to fair
and often went unfilled. Non-Russian approved
thigh meat interest was spotty with offerings in
a full range. Bulk parts offerings were uneven
and mechanically separated turkey adequate to
ample.

Movement of ready-to-cook whole birds was
seasonally light to fair. Seller fferings continued
to vary by size, but were fully sufficient overall.
Live supplies were moderate; weights were ir
regular in a full range of light to heavy Proces
sor schedules were moderate to moderately
heavy. Less than trucklot asking prices were un
changed at 60 to 70 cents Trade sentiment re
mained about steady. In the parts complex,
drums and wings were generally noted as in
close balance Other items were adequate to
fully adequate.

Mostly prices were higher on whites, un
changed to higher on whole, and irregular but
about unchanged on yolks when compared to
the previous week’s trading. Trade sentiment
was fully steady to firm on whites, fully steady
on whole and mixed to about steady on
yolks. Offerings of yolk were sufficient,
with balance of items short to about
adequate for trade needs. Demand was
moderate but not aggressive. Liquid
and frozen eggs (ingredients included)
processed under federal inspection in
the Eastern region for the week ending
October 25, 2003 were 3% more than
the previous week, and last year.

Trucklot buying interest was light to no bet
ter than fair and generally unaggressive as deal

ferings of breast items were readily available
and competitively priced to stimulate additional
interest. Drums and thighs were adequate to
