The 61st Annual Franklin County 4-H Pig Club Show and Sale was conducted at the Greencastle Livestock Market Saturday, Aug. 9, with 74 4-H project animals shown and sold. The 74 head of, pork-on-the-hoof total ed 18480 lbs. and sold for a total sale value of $23,293.72 or an average of 1.26 cents per pound. The grand champion hog, weighing 245 lbs. was shown Samuel Wingert, St. Thomas and was purchased by G reen castle Livestock Market for $2.60 a pound. The reserve champion shown by Andrew Dice of Chambersburg, weighing in at 260 lbs., was purchased by Lori Peiffer & Ro manoski for $2.75 a pound. In the Junior Fitting and Showing class Nicholas Wingert, St. Thomas, was de clared grand champion while Austin Heck, Chambersburg was granted reserve champion honors. In the Senior division Brandon Heck, Chambersburg was declared grand cham pion while Kevin Stahl, Mercersburg was declared Reserve Champion. The show was judged by Bob Mikesell. Roundup trophies were sponsored by Ag- Choice Farm Credit of Chambersburg while ribbons and rosettes were provided by the Franklin County 4-H Development Fund.
