COOL Funding
WASHINGTON, D.C. National Farmers
Union has joined 135 agriculture and consumer
groups today in asking Congress to maintain full
funding for the implementation of country-of-ori
gin labeling (COOL).
“Agriculture producers
and consumers remain unit
ed and steadfast in the call
to keep mandatory country
of-origin labeling,” said
NFU President Dave Fred
erickson. “Mandatory
COOL provides an opportu
nity for the United States to
expand the level of consum
er choice, confidence and
knowledge in the retail mar
ketplace, which consumers
deserve and demand and
American producers can
provide.”
