Weekly Cattle Summary Compared to last
week: Steer and heifer calves steady to 3.00
higher with advance on weaned calves. Demand
good for calves. Calves comprised majority of
supply and these average to very attractive in
quality. Feeder steers and heifers steady in light
test with good demand. Wheat fields and many
ponds in need of rain. Talk of the day was an
extremely light Monday slaughter, just 77,000,
some 41 percent less than same day year ago
Receipts this week 11,716; last week 11,447;
last year 6198. Supply consisted of 30% year
lings and calves over 600 lbs; 66% calves; 4%
cows and bulls. Heifers comprised 42% of feeder
& calf supply.
