Learn about the archi tecture of an early Pennsylvania German farm. Special tours of the historic Alexander Schaeffer Farm will be conducted Saturday afternoons, Oct. 11 and 25 at 1 p.m. and again at 3 p.m. Best known as the town founder, Alexander Schaeffer purchased the land that makes up the farm and much of the town that bears his name in 1754. The hour-and-a-half tour includes the farm house, garden, and outbuildings. Tours begin at the gift shop building. Admission is $2.50 for adults, $1 child (12-18 years), and children 11 and younger free with an accompanying adult. Discount admission passes to the Historic Schaefferstown other museums can also be pur chased. The farm is a part of Historic Schaefferstown, Incorporated (HSI), a nonprofit educational or ganization whose mission is the collection, pres ervation, study and dissemination of the history and folk culture of the Pennsylvania Germans in South Central Pennsylvania, with particular focus on Schaefferstown. The organization dis seminates information through educational pro grams for adults and children, tours of its build ings and collections, festivals and special events, and publication of research and promotional ma terials. The other museums that Historic Schaef ferstown operates are the Brendle Museum and the Gemberling-Rex House. The Schaeffer Farm is located just south of Schaefferstown’s Main Street on Route 501.
