The York County
Conservation District
is offering a college
scholarship of $5OO for
York County students
majoring in a natural
resource or agricultur
al field. Applications
can be obtained by
calling the district of
fice from 8:30 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. Monday
through Friday at
(717) 840-7430 or
(800) 441-2025 (ext.
7430).
To be eligible, the
student must be a
York County resident;
attending a college or
university in the U.S.;
and majoring in agri
culture, conservation,
environment, natural
resource management
or related field. The
scholarships is open to
first semester students.
Applications must
be submitted to the
district by Oct. 10.

Grand champion market steer at the
Berks 4-H Roundup, exhibited by Aylissa
Dietrich, Strausstown, sold for $2,400.
The 1,155-pound steer was sold to Bill
Campbell, Hoss’s Steak and Seafood
House.
Reserve champion Berks County 4-H
steer weighed 1,350 pounds and was
exhibited by Kristy Dietrich, Hamburg.
The steer sold for $2,500 to a consorti
um of buyers, including Nationwide In
surance Kathy Barry Agency, Hoober
Inc., and Mountain View Supply. From

Kristy.

4-H Show Careers At
Berks Annual Roundup

LEESPORT (Berks Co.) For
two longtime 4-H members, the
event was bittersweet.
Both know this is their last year
in the Berks County 4-H program,
and both ended up winners late last
week at the annual roundup at the
Reading Fairgrounds in Leesport.
Kristy Dietrich, 18, daughter of
James and Donna Dietrich, won re-
