Thanks to Mary Jane Way bright, Gettysburg, for writing that she also needed a seal for her Mirro pressure cooker. She called toll-free Culi nary Parts (866) 7278-4357. They told her the amount to send to re ceive the part. ANSWER - Bruce Nat tiess, Fleetwood, wanted to know if anyone knows of a source to buy replace ment tips for the cone on a Woodbuster PTO driven log splitter. Thanks to Bob Snyder, Akron, Ohio, for writing that he doesn’t think replacement parts are available. “But any compe tent welding or machine shop should be able to rebuild the existing one or make a new re placement part,” Snyder writes. ANSWER - Shirley Schwoerner, Wysox, wrote that some time ago she had clipped an answer in this col umn from Joyce Raubenstine who told how to make creams from aloe vera. The instruc tions were unclear, and she asks if someone can tell her the exact amount of aloe vera to use. Thanks to Mrs. Benuel S. Fisher, Strasburg, for taking the time to answer. To crush the leaves of aloe vera and mix with four parts melted fat and one part white wine means take 1 cup crushed aloe vera, 4 cups melted lard, and 1 cup dry white wine. An- Lancaster Farming, Saturday, September 27, 2003-811 d other example would be V* cup crushed aloe vera, 1 cup melt ed lard, and V« cup dry white wine. Also, thanks to Joyce Rau benstine who writes that you must break the leaves of the aloe off first. Then using a flat stick, push the fluid in the leaf out (working from the leaf point to where it was broken off). After the fluid is col lected, heat it gently until thin enough to strain through a cotton cloth. Measure or weigh the fluid collected. Add four times as much melted lard. Add only dry white wine equal to the amount of aloe vera you collected. Heat mixture gently for 20 minutes in a double boiler. Stir well with a spoon, and put into a small jar with a tight-fitting lid.
