In New York and Chicago, prices were high
er on mediums and unchanged on the remain
der. Trade sentiment ranged steady to firm. De
mand into all outlets was light to good. Supplies
were weil balanced to sufficient for the larger
sizes and lighter weights were closely balanced
to tight for present requirements. Breaking
stock offerings were adequate to short for the
moderate to good demand. Spent hen offerings
were more than sufficient for the mostly fair de
mand.

Tmcklot buying activity on ready-to-cook
whole broiler/fryers was light to fair as dealers
continue to monitor the market following the
hurricane. Offerings of all sizes were at least
adequate with discounting noted on the 3
pound birds. Retail and distributive draw was
about fair. The market tone was barely steady
on the 3 pound birds and no better than steady
on the balance.

Trade sentiment was barely steady in the
East; steady to barely steady elsewhere. Retail
and food service demand was light to moderate
best where limited feature activity and fast food
promotions were in progress. Supplies were suf
ficient to available with 3 pound sizes in the
East in the longest position. In the parts struc
ture, wings and tenders were adequate and
clearing satisfactorily. Dark meat items were
adequate and breast items were available. In
production areas, live supplies were moderate at
mixed, but mostly desirable weights.

both light and heavy canners when compared to
a week earlier. Demand ranged light to fair.

cent below the prior week and 1 percent below
estimates.

ever larger sizes were unchanged. Trade senti
ment was steady to fully steady. Retail demand
was moderate to good, best where featured.
Large 18 pack eggs were advertised at $1.29.
The New York shell egg inventory increased 16
percent when compared to last Monday. Sup
plies were sufficient for current requirements.
