Penn State Offers
Pasteurizer Workshop
UNIVERSITY PARK (Centre Co.) The Pas
teurizer Operators Workshop will be offered by
Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences Nov,
10-12 at the Atherton Hotel in State College and at
Borland Laboratory on the University Park
campus.
The workshop is designed primarily for pasteu
rizer operators working in milk plants. However,
people working in plants processing juice or water
also will benefit from participation in the course.
The workshop will include sessions with Penn
State faculty covering milk composition, the general
principles of heat transfer, and microbiology. Paul
Hoge of the Pennsylvania Department of Agricul
ture will discuss the regulatory testing of HTST, or
high temperature short time, equipment. Practical
skills will be gained through hands-on labs.
Registrations will be accepted until Oct. 27. The
registration fee of $465 covers tuition, manual,
break, a lunch and the banquet. For registration in
