Prices were irregular but generally
trended higher when compared to the
previous week’s trading. Trade sentiment
was fully steady to firm. Demand was fair
to good with supplies reported as in close
balance to short of needs. Liquid and fro
zen eggs (ingredients included) processed
under federal inspection in the eastern re
gion for the week ending Aug. 23 were 6%
less than the previous week and 3% less
than a year ago.

cook whole broiler/fryers was about fair
following the holiday weekend. Offerings
were mixed in availability, but were noted
as adequate to balanced overall. Move
ment through retail and distributive chan
nels was fair at best with refill activity
providing the best draw. The market tone
was about steady.
Final report of prices negotiated for
trucklot sales of ready-to-cook ice-packed
broiler/fryers, to be delivered to first re
ceivers, New York, for delivery the week
of Sept. 1 US Grade A: Majority 57-60,
wtd. avg. 57.48; loads 23. Composite: avg.

Sept. 3. The trade sentiment on tom bulk
parts ranged from steady on necks to
fully steady to firm on drums and wings.
Inquiry was fair to good. Tom bulk parts
offerings were light and held with confi
dence on drums and wings, adequate on
necks. The trade sentiment was steady to
firm on fresh tom breast meat and thigh
meat was fully steady to firm. The under
tone on 4-8 lb breasts was steady. Trading
light on all items. Plant grade non-basted
10-16 lb breasts traded at 85 cents deliv
ered.
