Jessica Dietrich’s cow, Lynnacres
Emory Wonderful, won the su
preme championship at the
Great Allentown Fair Dairy
Show Wednesday.
The homebred, senior 2-year
old Holstein was selected as the
top animal out of all the dairy
breeds shown by 26 exhibitors at
the fair.
Dietrich, 10, said she had an
enormous amount of family sup
port in her dairy show efforts.
Those cheering her on included
parents Brian and Fay Dietrich
and brothers Adam, 7, and Josh,
3, as well as grandparents, cous
ins, and an aunt and uncle.
“It feels pretty good,” Dietrich
said of having the top cow. “I
came hefe with all my family
members. They give me a lot of
support.”
The Dietrichs, New Tripoli,
milk 250 registered Holsteins in
partnership with Brian’s brother
William and his sister Robin.

Jessica Dietrich said the name
Wonderful came to mind when
the animal was bom, in part be
cause “she looked really nice and
sweet.”
The name also fit with the Di
etrich’s tradition of naming heif
er calves with the same first letter
as the name of their dam. Won
derful’s dam was a cow named
Wilma.
Wonderful is classified Good
Plus-83.
Jessica is a fifth-grader at New
Lehigh Middle School. She has
been showing dairy animals for
four years, and has been a mem
ber of the Lehigh County 4-H
Dairy and Beef clubs for two
years.
Jill Vail, Blandon, showed the
supreme champion dairy bull, an
Ayrshire calf.
David Smith of Palmyra
judged the show and placed each
of the breeds as follows:
