Retail de mand was light to moderate with limited features. Food service was slow to fairly good, best into fast food for promotions. Supplies were usually sufficient; however, in the East, smaller sizes were adequate to close, but heavier weights were available and often discounted. In the Midwest fol lowing the blackout, shortages were noted due to delivery problems and schedules were irregular, but unsafe water was now confirmed potable.
