The 25th annual Union County West End Fair Junior Livestock Sale was conducted in Laurelton on Friday. Fifty-four different members of several Union Coun ty 4-H Clubs and the Mifflinburg FFA Chapter sold animals at the sale. A total of 113 lots con taining 13 steers, 50 market hogs, and 50 market lambs were sold. Fifty-two buyers supported the youth by purchasing animals at the 78th annual Union County West End Fair. Bryan Imes and son served as the auctioneer at the sale. The Grand Champion Market Steer was purchased by Robert Hamm for the Country Cup board Restaurant of Lewisburg. A bid of $2 per pound was ac cepted for the 1,235-pound Angus cross steer owned by Ash ley Kulp of Mifflinburg. Ashley is the daughter of Tammy Rhyme and raised her steer as part of her Cowan Ag 4-H club project. The 1255-pound Reserve Champion Chad Rathfon’s reserve champion market lamb is purchased by Glenn Wiand for Hallmark Feeds. Market Steer was owned by Rhonda Hook of Middleburg. Her steer purchased by David Id dings for the Carriage Comer Restaurant and Idding’s Quarry in Mifflinburg for $1.85 per pound. Rhonda is the past presi dent of the Mifflinburg FFA Chapter and is the daughter of Steven and Wanda Hook. Other steers were sold at an average price of $1.37 per pound. The 247-pound market hog was owned by Justine Gabel of Lewisburg. Justine will be a jun ior at the Mifflinburg Area High School and is a member of the Mifflinburg FFA Chapter. She is the daughter of Robert and Amy Gabel. Adam Wolfe was the owner of the 264-pound Reserve Champi on Market Hog. It was purchased by Robert Hamm for the Country Cupboard Restaurant in Lewisburg for $9 a pound. Adam is the son of Dennis and Anna Wolfe, Lewisburg. The Lewisburg graduate will be attending the Pennsylvania State University at Altoona this fall.
