That’s the feeling 4-H’ers ex
perienced last Saturday when
they brought their best 4-H live
stock projects to compete during
the annual Lancaster County 4-H
Roundup at the West Lampeter
Fairgrounds.
Champions took home various
honors. Katrina Frey, Quarry
ville, won grand champion heifer.
Katie Nolt, New Holland, won
grand champion steer. Josh

Katrina, 13, is the daughter of
Fritz and Nancy Frey, Quarry
ville. Katrina noted this was her
first champion at the roundup.
The Swift Middle School eighth
grader showed an Angus heifer,
obtained from Virginia On the
Sycamore Sale in Dalton, Va.
The animal is a “home im
provement project,” noted Katri
na’s mother Nancy, to help im
prove the herd. Katrina cares for
eight brood cows. The heifer won
its class at the Eastern Regional
Show. Katrina plans to show at
KILE and the North American

Holland. The Garden Spot High
School ninth grader already
showed a champion steer at the
roundup, she noted. She plans to
show at Ephrata, Keystone Inter
national Livestock Expo, and
Farm Show.
