Summary Illinois, Indiana, Michigan,
and Ohio: Compared to last week, feeder
cattle were mostly firm to 1.00 higher. De
mand and trading activity were moderate.
The continued ban on Canadian cattle
and tight feeder cattle supplies supported
prices. Dry weather has lead to reduced
grazing in some parts of the Combelt and
producers in these areas have begun to
market more cattle under 600 lbs. Report
ed sales consisted of about 30% beef
steers, 64% heifers and 6% Holstein
steers. Approximately 67% of the cattle
marketed this week weighed over 600 lbs.
Confirmed sales 950 this week, 1300 last
week and 800 last year.
FEEDER STEERS: Medium and
Large 1-2: 575-625 lbs 94.00-102.00;
825-875 lbs 85.75-89.00; load lot 980 lbs
78.50. HOLSTEINS: Medium and Large
3: load lot 680 lbs 79.00.
