Compared to Thursday, the two-day slaugh
ter steer run sold fully 2.00-3.00 lower. The
quality of the Tuesday supply was greatly im
proved when compared to Monday, although
bids did not adjust. On Thursday nearly 100
percent of the Choice supply sold in the low to
mid-80‘s, with only a few Choice steers on
Tuesday able to break 80.00 as the bulk of them
sold in the 77.00-79.00 range. However, local
finished prices still remain extremely good
when compared to a year ago, with live cattle

Compared to Tuesday, slaughter steers sold
fully steady. The only exception was in the Se
lect and low Choice cattle, which sold with a
firmer undertone. The summer*heat and hu
midity has set in once again, and a lot of the
cattle were showing it as live weights wot
down a little. However, the steady rain show
ers, combined with the nice sunny days, is mak
ing for an excellent com crop; with many pro-
of primarily high Select and average Choice cat
tle, but that's not to say their wasn't the regular
high Choice and Prime cattle on offer as well
There were several larger strings sorted up for
Thursday's run that sold from 78.00-82.00;
which had most buyers sitting up in their seats
(there's just something about watching a nice
group of 8-10 head of black cattle sell that really
gets you going). Holstein steers sold steady to
firm, with the heifer supply once again to light
to test. Slaughter cows sold 1.00-2.00 higher due
to the good late week demand. The slaughter
bull run was light early in the week, with prices
trading firmer on the light test on Thursday.
The supply included 602 head of slaughter
steers, 425 head slaughter cows, 62 slaughter
heifers, 89 slaughter bulls, with 115 head of
