Trade sentiment was steady to about
steady in the Northeast, steady to firm
elsewhere. Demand was light to good,
best where retail ads and fast food promo
tions were in progress. Supplies were suf
ficient to tight for present trade require
ments. In the parts structure, breast items
were in close balance to short, wings were
better balanced to tight, and remaining
items were at least adequate. In produc
tion areas, live supplies were moderate.
Weights were in a full range, but mostly
desirable.

Trucklot buying activity was fair to no
better than moderate as dealers generally
limited orders to normal committments.
Offerings of breast items were in good bal
ance. Dark meat cuts were sufficient with
leg quarters clearing well. Wings were
adequate to balanced. Movement through
retail and distributive channels was most
ly fair. The market tone was fully steady
on breast items and at least steady on the
balance.

LIGHTS: The market tone on frozen 8-16
lb hens and 16-24 lb toms was steady to
fully steady. Light trading was reported
for prompt and deferred shipments of fro
zen whole birds. Demand light. Offerings
adequate. Bulk parts and meats trading
was slow. Demand was mixed, mostly
light.
EXPORT MARKET HIGHLIGHTS;
Trading and demand light to moderate,
with most inquiry centered on tom drums
and thigh meat. Other parts and meats
slow. Most interest coming from Asia,
Mexico and Russia.

week ending August 8 will decrease by 13
percent. Present week purchases for the
week ending August 1 were 274,643 cases
which was 26 percent above the prior
week and 20 percent above estimates.

3%; TOTAL: 274,643 up 26%.

Prices generally continued to trended
higher this week when compared to the
previous week’s trading. Trade sentiment
was reported as steady to firm at prevail
ing levels. Demand was moderate, with
offerings limited. Overall, supplies were
irregular but usually barely adequate for
trade needs. Liquid and frozen eggs (in
gredients included) processed under fed
eral inspection in the Eastern region for
the week ending 26 July 2003 were 1%
higher than the previous week, and 1%
more than a year ago.

Negotiated F. 0.8. dock prices, 2
pounds and heavier ice-packed broilers
and fryers, trucklot sales of US Grade A

breast meat was steady to fully steady
with the balance of fresh white meat at
least steady. Demand moderate for the
light to mostly adequate offerings. The
undertone on frozen white meat was
steady at best with new production held
with the most confidence and older pro
duction in the longest position with some
sellers willing to negotiate. Offerings
available. The undertone on thigh meat
was steady to fully steady. Inquiry was
slow to moderate, good for Russia. Trad
ing centered on frozen thigh meat into ex
port channels at steady to higher trending
price levels for destinations other than
Russia. Offerings light to instances ade
quate. Trading of all items centered on a
fair volume of frozen thigh meat for ex
port, balance light. For domestic: fresh
breast trim 65.50, plant grade breasts:
non-basted 12-14 lb. 85 and 16-18 lb. 75,
basted 16-18 lb. 70 cents delivered. Tom
necks traded at 16-17.50 cents delivered
export. USDA announced on Monday,
August 2, 2003 that they will purchase up
to $2O million of additional white meat
turkey products.
