NEW HOLLAND, PA
August 4,2003
Report Supplied By USDA
Receipts: 746 Last Week: 733 Last
Year: 1036.
Compared to last Monday, barrows
and gilts sold steady, with sales as much
as 3.00 lower. The quality of the run was
below average, and included a noticeable
increase in heavier hogs. Buyers seemed
to show much more interest in owning
heavier sows than they did the straight
hogs, as a 600-700 pound sow will bring
as much as 40.00. At the Sioux Falls ter
minal hog market on Monday 220-270 lb
barrows and gilts sold from 38.00-38.50,
with sows trading from 33.50-38.00. All
hogs are sold by the hundred weights.
