Senator Specter
To Meet With Area
Dairy Farmers
MESHOPPEN (Wyoming Co.) Senator
Arlen Specter (R-PA) will meet twice in early
August with area dairy farmers.
Arden Tewksbury, manager of Pro Ag, report
ed the first meeting will take place at the Milan
and Arvin Hibbard farm in Dimmock (Rt. 29,
Susquehanna County) on Thursday, Aug. 7, at 5
p.m.
The second meeting will be Friday, Aug. 8, at
the Tioga County Fairgrounds, Whitneyville.
The fairgrounds are just off Rt. 6, approximately
halfway between Mansfield and Wellsboro
(Tioga County). Senator Specter will meet with
dairy farmers in the main tent at 2:15 p.m.
Dennis Boyanowski, president of Pro Ag said,
“it is very important that dairy farmers attend
one of these meetings. The meetings are wide
open, and we would like to see agribusiness peo
ple, and certainly consumers, to attend the ses
sions.”
Specter’s offices in Scranton and Coudersport
are coordinating the meetings.
“Senator Specter has always been a supporter
of our dairy farmers and is currently drafting a
dairy bill to price milk based on the dairy farm
er’s cost of production. Specter is also supporting
the efforts to establish dairy compacts in various
sections of the country,” Tewksbury said.
On Aug. 8, Dairy Days will be celebrated at
the Tioga County Fairgrounds.
