YARDS, Weekly Cattle Summary
Compared to last week: Feeder steers and
heifers 1.00-2.00 higher. Steer calves
steady. Heifer calves steady to 3.00 lower.
Demand very good for feeders, as well as
heavy weight calves and Stockers. De
mand moderate for light weight calves as
hot dry temperatures continue. A large
area of the state in drought conditions
with a shortage of 9-12 inches of rainfall
for the year. A more bullish atmosphere
in the cattle market after a 3.00-4.00 raise
in slaughter cattle last week, 4 consec
utive plus days in the cattle futures and a
firm move in boxed beef prices.
Receipts this week 14,575; last week
11,967; last year 8009. Supply consisted of
72% over 600 lbs; 23% calves; 5% cows
and bulls. Heifers comprised 42% of feed
er & calf supply.

weight and price in parenthesis.
