    Schnecksville Fair Posts Best Of Show Winners
SCHNECKSVILLE (Mont
gomery Co.) The 20th annual
Schnecksville Community Fair
had major rain related problems
from Wednesday through Satur
day.
On Friday, which for years has
been the best day, the fair did not
even open due to torrential rains
which measured 2.5 inches. Plans
were made to continue the fair
through Sunday, but again the
rains came.
All in all, President Paul
Schwarz was quoted as saying,
“We got bombed.” Final figures
show that attendance was down
one-half from the previous year.
All the competitive exhibit

the Chainsaw group. There were
15 carvers froip all over the
world. Two carvers came from
Japan. Categories included

bread creation to the Lebanon
Area Fair Quick Bread Contest.
The Pennsylvania “Simply De
licious” Vegetable Quick Bread
Contest will be conducted dur
ing the Lebanon Area Fair on
Monday, July 28.
Entries should be brought to
the Lebanon Area Fair office at
Cornwall and Rocherty Roads
in Lebanon on the day of the
contest between 10 a.m. and
noon.

must include at least one or

bage, carrots, cauliflower,
celery, cucumber, greens, egg
plant, garlic, horseradish, leeks,
onion, parsley, peas, pepper,
pumpkin, spinach, summer
squash, zucchini, sweet corn,
sweet potatoes, tomatoes, tur
nip, or winter squash.
To qualify, you must be a
resident of Pennsylvania and
must present your recipe with
the entry. There is no entry fee
and pre-registration is not re
quired.
To enter, bring one loaf of
Shelby Rarick with the
champion market steer;
Steve McMann, judge; and
Harlan Wessner, 4-H leader
and ringman.

quick (non-yeast) bread baked
in a 9x 5-inch pan and dis
played on a paper plate or
cardboard. Quick breads will be
judged on the overall appear
ance, texture and doneness,
flavor, and creativity.
Winners will be announced
at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 28.
Cash prizes are: lst-$25,
2nd-$l5, 3rd-$5. The first prize
winner may be eligible for the
2004 PA Farm Show Competi
