Movement of ready-to-cook whole birds
remained centered on the generally well
balanced to tight supply of 3.50 and 4.00
pound sizes; 2.50 and 3.00 pound sizes
were readily available and slow to clear.
Live supplies were mostly moderate;
weights were desirable to light. Processing
schedules were about moderate. Less than
trucklot asking prices were unchanged at
59 to 68 cents. Trade sentiment was at
least steady on the larger sizes; barely
steady to weak on the lighter. In the parts
complex, supplies were adequate for im
mediate delivery.

DOMESTIC MARKET HIGH
LIGHTS: The market tone on 8-16 lb
hens and 16-24 lb toms remains about
steady. No trading was reported. Demand
was light as buyers continue to be in a
wait and see mode. Offerings are ade
quate to ample for current needs. Bulk
parts trading was light to moderate,
meats was inactive. Demand was limited
as domestic buyers keep inventories close.
EXPORT MARKET HIGHLIGHTS:
Trading and demand was light to moder
ate. Trading centered on thigh meat and
tom drums, balance slow. Interest noted
from Russia, Mexico and Asia.

percent. Present week purchases for the
week ending July 18 were 224,108 cases
which was 5 percent below the prior week
and 3 percent above estimates.

down 6%; TOTAL: 224,108 down 5%.
Comparison figures are compiled on a

Trucklot buying activity on ready-to
cook whole broiler/fiyers was light to no
better than fair. Offerings of the 3 pound
and lighter sizes were available and the
heavier weights remained in close bal
ance. Retail and distributive movement
was only fair at best. The market tone
was at least steady on the 3.5 to 4 pound
birds and about steady on the balance.
