Trade sentiment was fully steady in the
West, steady in the Midwest, and mostly
about steady in the Hast. Retail demand
was slow to fair with limited buyer inter
est. Food service was slow to fairly good
with best movement into fast food and
restaurants. Supplies were irregular, but
overall available to cover trade needs. In
the parts structure, trading was light and
selective. Dark meat was sufficient with
thighs more available, breast items and
wings were at least adequate and at times
reduced to help move. In production
areas, live supplies were moderate.
Weights were desirable to light, mostly
desirable.

DOMESTIC MARKET HIGH
LIGHTS: The market tone continued un
settled on frozen commodity hens and
consumer sized toms with some more
witling than others to negotiate in order to
move inventories. Demand light to fair
with buyers bargain shopping. Trading
centered on a heavy volume of frozen
commodity 12-16 lb hens for July-August
shipments, balance limited. Offerings ade
quate to ample with 8-12 lb frozen com
modity hens with held the most confi
dence. Trading was slow on bulk parts,
meat and rib breasts.
EXPORT MARKET HIGHLIGHTS:
Trading was light and cen
tered on tom bulk parts at
steady to barely steady price
levels. Some frozen basted
netted hens and toms traded
at 65.50 cents delivered port
for October shipment. Inqui
ry was light to fair, best for
Russia.

mained cautious and unaggressive. Offer
ings of breast items were at least suffi

adequate with thighs noted as slightly
more available at some locations. Wings

movement was about fair. Distributive
draw was light and selective. The market

Mostly prices were higher on yolks, and
unchanged to higher on other items when
compared to the previous week's trading.
Trade sentiment was at least steady at
prevailing price levels. Demand was in a
full range of fair to good. Offerings were
irregular but about adequate for trade
needs. Liquid and frozen eggs (ingredients
included) processed under federal inspec
tion in the Eastern region for the week
ending 05 July 2003 were 21% less than
the previous week, and 3 % less than a
year ago.
