PA 717*335-0449 717*278-2449 County’s amusement park along Route 30, are scheduled to go to the highest bidder at the on-site auction July 28 beginning 9 a.m. Arcade games, ball crawl, old wooden park signs, benches, ta bles, restaurant equipment and numerous items to be sold are certain to bring back memories of good times for many people. Jennings is counting on those memories enticing people to place a bid for a piece of nostalgia. “There is a Monorail Society whose members travel from place to place to ride monorails,” Jen nings said. She is hoping there are some collectors among that group. Who ever wants to put the monorail into action will need to purchase rails elsewhere, because those will not be auctioned. Jennings spe cializes in auction ing restaurant equipment, and said that the auc tion originally was planned to sell Dutch Wonder land’s restaurant equipment, which had recently been replaced with new equipment when the park was pur chased by Hershey (HERCO). While compiling inven tory, more and more items were uncovered. At first, management consid ered using items in a museum commemorating the theme park’s beginnings. But the idea seemed unattainable, and the auction expanded. Jennings said that her career into auctioneering was spurred when she met her husband-to-be. He said, “If we’re going to date, you need to learn what I do on weekends.” Attending auctions together grew into a passion for both. “We attended five to six auctions weekly,” Jennings said. The couple eventually attend ed auctioneering school, and now work together and independently in the business. Her husband works mainly in auctioneer real estate. She prefers commercial assets. Bid calling, Jennings said, is entertaining and requires skill honed through practice. She re cently competed on the national level at the National Auctioneers Association, San Antonio. When not conducting an auc tion, Jennings can usually be found attending auctions. She likes to listen to other auction eers, and borrows bits and pieces here and there to develop her own style. “Clear and precise,” Jennings said of defining her style of bid calling.
