She is the daughter of dairy fanners Marshall and Angela Trimble of Dmmore. This season marks Esther’s seventh year in the dairy show ring. Tiffany Donough, a Northwest 4-H’er from Elizabethtown exhib ited the reserve junior champion in the show. Youth and open exhibitors brought a total of about 30 ani mals to the Holstein show, which took place at the Solanco Fair- grounds. Hilltop Heritage Holsteins was named premier exhibitor, and Donegal Creek won the premier breeder award. Youth also showed five colored breeds during the Lancaster County 4-H Dairy Show con ducted the same day. Andrew Smith, who will turn 17 this coming week, showed two breed champions: a Brown Swiss and a Guernsey. Smith is the son of Tom and Dale Smith of King and Queen Farm, Denver. The Smiths man age a dairy farm with about 45 milking colored breed animals. The Kauffman family, also of Denver, showed two breed cham pions: Toni, 11, exhibited the top Ayrshire; and Stephanie, 12, the champion Red and White. They are the daughters of Ann and Harold Kauffman. Sandra Swendsen, 9, com pleted the colored breed champi on line-up with her Jersey cow. Sandra is the daughter of Dale and Trudy Swendsen, Manheim. Dean Daubert judged aTotal of 34 animals in the colored breed show, including 28 Brown Swiss. The Agri culture and Horticulture Depart ment at Alfred State College will sponsor an exhibit at this year’s Empire Farm Days (EFD), Aug. 5,6, and 7, Seneca Falls, an an nual gathering of farmers, manu facturers, and policy makers who exchange ideas and “plug” into the excitement of agriculture in the Northeast. For farmers, EFD is a direct link to new farm technologies, equipment, and ideas; for busi nesses, EFD means showing off products and services to key players in Northeast agriculture.
