Trade sentiment was steady to fully
steady at prevailing price levels with ma
jority prices higher when compared to
previous week's trading. Demand was
seasonal but slightly better for the holiday
week than was anticipated. Offerings
were in a full range but generally reported
as short to about adequate for trade
needs. Liquid and frozen eggs (ingredients
included) processed under federal inspec
tion in the Eastern region for the week
ending 28 Jun 2003 were 10% more than
the previous week, and 5% more than a
year ago.

Trucklot buying activity was light to
fair during midweek trading as dealers
assumed a cautious posture and worked
hand-to-mouth. Offerings of breast items
were available. Legs and drumsticks were
clearing well. Wings and tenderloins were
at least sufficient. Retail movement was
moderate with scattered features provid
ing the best draw. Distributive demand
was light and selective. The market tone
was fully steady on dark meat cuts, cau
tious on breast items and about steady on
the balance.

offerings; with some buyers looking for
additional supplies of heavy canners. The

DOMESTIC MARKET HIGH
LIGHTS: The undertone on frozen hens
and consumer sized toms was steady to
instances barely steady for current ship
ments, however some increased seller con
fidence was noted of deferred shipments
Inquiry was slow to fair on whole turkeys
with processors continuing to note a grad
ual increase in buyers’ “shopping.” Trad
ing was light with firm priced trading
noted for August shipments. Offerings of
frozen 10-12 lb. hens were light to ade
quate with some sellers attempting to tie
together 12-16 lb sizes with 10-12 s in
order to move product. Offerings of toms
available. Trading on 4-8 lb breasts and
fresh tom breast meat was moderate, light
on the balance of parts and meats.
EXPORT MARKET HIGHLIGHTS-
Trading was active on drums, thigh meat
and mechanically separated turkey, bal
ance light. Demand continued active for
Russia with interest also noted for Asia,
Mexico, Eastern Europe and the Caribbe-
