Compared to last Monday, barrows
and gilts sold steady to mostly 3.00 lower,
with instances of 4.00 lower. Majority of
the supplies was made up of heavier
weight 40-45 percent lean hogs. In addi
tion, very few 49-54 percent lean hogs
were offered. Buying interest was light as
buyers were hesitant to move livestock in
the hot weather. Barrows and gilts are
trading 45.50 at the terminal market in
Sioux Falls on Monday, which are 4.50
higher. All hogs are sold by the hundred
weights. Percent Lean Weight Price 49-54
220-270 lbs 44.25-46.00; 45-50 220-270 lbs
42.00-44.50; 270-300 lbs 38.00-43.75;
40-45 220-270 lbs few 43.00; 270-300 lbs
37.50-41.00; 300-400 lbs 28.50-32.25
Sows: Prices were mostly steady to
weak. U.S. 1-3 300-500 lbs 30.00-35.75;
500-700 lbs 35.00-38.75. Boars: Prices
were generally steady on a very light run.

Compared to last week, slaughter pigs
sold mixed, with U.S. 1-2 steady to firm
and U.S. 2 steady to weaker. There were
very few classes available at the Wednes
day sale that were comparable to last
weeks. Quality was average with particu
lar attention for lighter weight higher
quality pigs between 20-25 lbs. The supply
was comprised of 75 percent graded pigs
with a lighter run of as-is pigs compared
to last week. All pigs continue to go to
slaughter as mandated until further no
tice. All pigs are graded on arrival, and
sold on their in-weights; with prices below
quoted per hundred weight.
