THIS WEEK
LAST WEEK
LAST YEAR
Compared to Thursday, slaughter steers sold
steady to 1.00 lower, after trading steady to firm
on good quality Monday. Slaughter Holstein
steers sold 2.00 higher as quality increased com
pared to last week. Slaughter heifers continued
to be scarce, however, prices remained steady.
Slaughter cows sold sharply lower, as much as
5.00 lower. This downward pressure was mainly
due to an ample supply of leaner conditioned
cows, plus a majority of the cows were caring
excess belly fill. Slaughter bulls sold mostly
steady to firm on limited supplies. The two-day
run included 290 steers, 46 heifets, 383 cows, 16
bulls, with 3 head of feeder cattle.
