    4-H Members Represent County Chapters At 4-H Capitol Days

HARRISBURG (Dauphin Co.) To learn about the
functions of state government, 120 Pennsylvania 4-H stu
dents representing their county chapters attended the an
nual 4-H Capitol Days, May 12 and 13.
Headquartered at the Hilton Harrisburg and Towers,
the two-day program was organized by Phil Hoy, Penn
State’s Youth Management Program Coordinator.
Monday, the young people visited various state agen
cies and departments and took part in simulation work
shops in which they wrote grant proposals for up to
$lOO,OOO and created budgets for several agencies. The
students then presented their proposals to a three-person
panel.
Tuesday, the 4-Hers joined their local senators and rep
resentatives at a legislative breakfast. Afterward, they
were given a tour of the Capitol, met many state officials,
and visited with their legislators. Many of the 4-Hers are
pictured here with their legislators.
