The supply did include several fleshy (65-80 percent lean) cows that are not usually available on Monday. Slaughter bulls sold mostly 4.00 higher. The cattle supply included 56 percent slaughter cows, with 14 percent slaughter bulls. All cattle and sheep quotes are by the hundred weight. However, the majority of the sales were noted as trading with a weaker undertone as the supply was very targe, with buyers able to pick and choose as they filled their trucks. Slaughter sheep sold 2.00-5.00 higher due to the good demand. The majority of the Kid supply was made up of Selection 3 goats which held quite a discount to the heavily muscled Kids. Yearlings were not well tested. Nannies sold 4.00-12.00 lower. Billies sold 6.00-14.00 lower, with Wethers trending from 4.00-12.00 lower. The supply in cluded around 700 head more than the prior week, which allowed the supply to outweigh the demand somewhat. After breaking records only a few weeks ago after reaching the 150.00 mark, boxed beef cutout values have moved sharply lower; with the Choice cutout from 133.00-134.00 as of Tuesday. The nearby July live cattle contract at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange was pushed below the 70.00 mark on Tuesday as it closed down 77 points to settle at 69.62. To most producers the word Canada has become a bad word, as many fear the opening of the border will undermine the Northeast cat tle market. Although, as of yet there is no word on when the border might open. A very fancy supply of Holstein steers sold firm to 1.00 higher on Monday, with Hol steins trading near steady on Tuesday. Slaughter heifers were not tested. Slaugh ter cow prices continue to receive support from the boneless market as the cow car cass cutout value was over 3.60 higher on Tuesday. All grades of slaughter cows sold firm to 1.50 higher. Slaughter bulls sold 4.00-S.OO higher on a good Supply.
