LIGHTS: The market tone on 8-16 lb
hens and 16-24 lb toms was steady to
barely steady. Light sales reported on pri
vate label hens for prompt shipment. Sup
plies continue to be fully adequate. Parts
and meats trading was slow. Domestic de
mand was limited, most buyers cautious
and selective.
EXPORT MARKET HIGHLIGHTS:
Trading centered on frozen tom 2-joint
wings and thigh meat, balance of items
light. Demand moderate. Offerings are
mixed regionally and range from bal
anced to ample.

Trade sentiment was mostly steady.
Retail demand was light to fair, which is
not unusual for this period of the month.
Food service was light to moderate, at
times fairly good for fast food and cater
ing. Supplies were usually sufficient with
heavier weights in the longest position. In
the parts structure, trading was fair at
best with regular commitments capable of
satisfying needs. Breast items and wings
were at least adequate or available, and
dark meat was in good supply and in the
best balance. In production areas, live
supplies were moderate. Weights were de
sirable to heavy, but mostly desirable.

Live supplies were moderate with an esti
mated slaughter of 1,339,000 compared to
1,324,000 last Tuesday. Weights were de
sirable to heavy. Processing schedules
were moderate. Supply and demand of
wings are ample.
Negotiated F. 0.8. dock prices, 2
pounds and heavier ice-packed broilers
and fryers, trucklot sales of US Grade A
or equivalent were steady at .55 - .67 per
pound; less than trucklot sales .54 - .70
per pound.

compared to previous week’s trading.
Trade sentiment ranged steady to firm,
mostly firm. Demand was not active from
buyers but still in a range of light to mod
erate. Offerings were irregular but usually
reported as short to adequate for trade
needs. Liquid and frozen eggs (ingredients
included) processed under federal inspec
tion in the Eastern region for the week
ending 07 Jun 2003 were 2% less than the
previous week, and 5% less than a year
ago.
