Compared to last week: Feeder steers
steady to LOO lower. Feeder heifers steady
to 2.00 lower. Demand good for front-end
cattle, moderate for increased supply of
Brahma Crosses. Demand held strong
throughout another long day despite
some difficulties obtaining trucks. Some
feedlots are near capacity. However, de
mand remains strong due to current feed
lot profits on slaughter cattle along with
accelerated turnover, cattle and calves
steady with good demand. Quality of
Stockers rather attractive for kind or con
dition. Flesh conditions of feeders contin
ues to harden and improve for buyers. Re
ceipts: this week 18,439; last week 20,923;
last year 14,385. Supply consisted of 85%
yearlings over 600 lbs; 12% calves; 3%
cows and bulls. Heifers comprised 31% of
feeder & calf supply.

Report (includes lambs sold in IL., IN.,
OH., Ml.) Compared to last week,
slaughter lambs traded mostly 5.00 high
er. Slaughter ewes were weak to 1.00
lower. Prices for goats remained steady.
Demand was moderate to good for mod
erate offerings. Carlot lamb carcass prices
were 6.50-7.75 lower for weights under 45
lbs. 45-60 lb carcasses were 2.75-4.75
higher. Confirmed sales this week about
82% slaughter lambs, 18% ewes and an
additional 712 head of goats. Total sheep
and lambs sales 1700, last week 700 and
year ago 1250.
