The Penn State Dairy Sci ence Club completed a busy spring semester with the Penn State Dairy Exposition and the annual recognition banquet. This year’s Expo champion was Maggie Moore from Mercer. Reserve overall champion was Joshua Hushon from Airville. This year’s judges were David Fava from Bentleyville and Amy Packard, Elizabethtown. At the annual recognition ban quet, Cassie Miller from McVey town was honored as Exposition chair. Ken Raney of the Pennsyl vania Holstein Association pres ented the Robert Rumler award to show manager Tammy Menke, Greenville. Lori Connelly of Pennsylvania Furnace was honored as this year’s Davey Award for out standing senior in dairy science. Lori served as Expo chair in 2002 and organized and chaired the first Osteochallenge RunAValk, an event to promote the value of dairy products to good bone health. Lori was active in almost every Dairy Science club activity and also served as Coaly Honor Society president. Karl Pollock, Marion Center, was named winner of the Brand ing Award. This award is pres ented to a junior who demon strates humility, excellent organizational skills, and who often works behind the scenes. Karl was Spring Judging Contest chair. Joel Krall, Lebanon, was named Outstanding First Year Member. Joel served as co-chair of the Pennsylvania Holstein Quiz Bowl and was recently elected Cheese Sale assistant chair for 2003.
