Market At A Glance
Atlanta, Ga.
June 3,2003
Report Supplied By USDA
Trade sentiment was firm in the West,
at least steady in the East, and steady
with some caution in the Midwest Retail
demand was moderate at best with few
features, and food service was fair to good
with strongest interest into fast food. Con
tinuous rain and cooler temperatures in
the Northeast and Midwest restricted
buying activity. In the East, heavier
weight product was well cleared and
smaller sizes were more available; how
ever, in other locations, larger sizes were
fully sufficient and lighter weights were in
balance. In the parts structure, trading
was fair. Breast items were at least ade
quate and frequently discounted to help
clear. Wings were adequate to ample, but
dark meat was balanced and moving. In
production areas, live supplies were mod
erate. Weights were mostly desirable, but
at times slightly heavier.
