LIGHTS: Retail sized hens and toms con
tinued steady to barely steady. Offerings
were fully adequate, however buyers were
reluctant to commit. Demand was light
for the at least adequate supplies of bulk
meats and parts.
EXPORT HIGHLIGHTS: Trading was
fairly active into export markets. Thigh
meat traded in a wide range of values
based on destination and whether the
thigh meat came from hens or toms. In
quiry was fair from Asia, Eastern Europe
and Mexico; fairly active from Russia

percent. Present week purchases fur the

which was 7 percent above the prior week

Trucklot buying activity remained fair
to moderate during midweek trading as
dealers kept floor stocks in good balance
with demand. Offerings of breast items
were generally sufficient. Dark meat cuts
were clearing well. Wings were manage
able. Retail and distributive movement
was mostly fair. Trade sentiment was
cautious following the holiday, but guard
edly optimistic as buyers looked to ap
proaching first of the month business to
help the market maintain an even keel.
The market tone was at least steady.

assessed the market. Offerings ranged
