Mostly prices were unchanged on yolks,
and unchanged to lower on balance of
items when compared to previous week’s
trading. Trade sentiment was barely
steady to weak on yolks, about steady to
steady on whole and generally steady on
whites. Demand was only fair as trading
reported slow to occasionally moderate.
Offerings were usually adequate for trade
needs. Liquid and frozen eggs (ingredients
included) processed under federal inspec
tion in the Eastern region for the week
ending May 3 were 5% higher than last
week, but 5% less than a year ago.

tivity was present. The New York shell
egg inventories increased 3 percent when
compared to Monday. Supplies were suf

elsewhere. Typically, demand slowed for
mid-week, covering the full range, with
retail ads and fast food specials having
best interest. Supplies were in good bal

The trade sentiment on fresh tom
breast meat was steady to instances weak.
Buyers were aggressive with some sellers
becoming more aggressive in offerings
product. The undertone on the balance of
white meat items was steady at best for
the available offerings. Some gradual im
provement was noted on cooked and deli
items. The USDA’s Agricultural Market
ing Service announced plans on May 12
to purchase young whole turkeys, turkey
roasts and turkey hams for school lunch
and other domestic food nutrition
assistance programs. Invitation
No. 1, inviting offers due by 12
noon, Central Time, Monday, June 2, is
being issued this week. Acceptances will
be announced by midnight Friday, June
5, for products to be delivered from July
16-31. Subsequent invitations will be is
