Pedal To Preserve Bike Tour Back By Popular Demand

returned after a one-year hiatus.
Pedal to Preserve, the Trust’s
sixth bicycle tour fundraiser, will
be conducted on Saturday, June

preserve” Lancaster County’s precious farmland at this
year’s ride.

tours that wind through the
beautiful farmland of western
Lancaster County farmland
which contains the highest densi
ty of preserved farmland in the
country.

“I was born in Alaska and
raised in Seattle ... some of the
most beautiful country in the
world,” said Stelson. “My family
all lives in the Seattle area so
why do I choose to make my
home here? The quality of life in
Lancaster County and its unique
landscape.
“A newsroom can be kind of a
wild place to work... and when
I need peace, I head to the coun
try, often by myself, to ride or
walk and clear my head,” she
said. “There are too few places
like this left in the world. Any
thing I can do to help preserve
such a treasure is my absolute
pleasure.”

Learn more about the CWT (Cooperatives Working Together)
program proposed by the National Milk Producers Federation.
The CWT program is designed to improve milk prices by bringing supply and demand in
balance. The major Northeast dairy cooperatives will be holding joint informational meet

The routes include a six-mile
“family ride” starting at 9:30
a.m., a 20-mile ride starting at 9
a.m., and a 52-mile ride starting
at 8 a.m. Riders are asked to reg
ister at least 30 minutes before
their start time.
“The routes are designed to
appeal to a wide variety of cy
clists, from people who want to
come with their children for the
family ride, to those who prefer a
longer and more challenging
ride,” said Trust board member
and route designer Bill Hoffman
The scenic,
lightly traveled
routes showcase
more than 20
farms that have
been preserved
forever from de
velopment.
Water stops,
snacks, and sup
port vehicles
will be provided
along the route.
