OKLAHOMA NATIONAL STOCK YARDS, Weekly Cattle Summary Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers 1.00-3.00 higher. Stocker cattle and calves firm to 4.00 higher. Demand very good for all classes. Last week’s movement off wheat in Oklahoma was very active. Monday’s run more of a mixed bag of calves, Stockers, feeders with a few number 2 and 3 Texas crossbreds and this an indication that the May wheat run could be slowing. Buyers encouraged by last week’s large slaughter and contin ued lighter carcass weights followed by a firm boxed beef trade. Several new crop calves included in calf supply. Receipts this week 11,900; last week 15,733; last year 15,583. Supply consisted of 84% yearlings over 600 lbs; 11% calves and light yearlings; 5% cows and bulls. Heifers comprised 32% of feeder and calf supply. Prices follow with weighted average weight and price in parenthesis.
