DOMESTIC MARKET HIGH
LIGHTS: The market tone was steady on
8-16 lb hens and 16-24 lb toms. No sales
reported. Demand was light and buyers
were content to wait for any market de
velopments. Offerings were fully ade
quate. Bulk parts trading was limited to
Grade A 4-8 pound packer label breasts
in the east. Bulk meat activity centered on
fresh tom breast meat at open prices for
delivery next week.
EXPORT MARKET HIGHLIGHTS:
Export markets were quiet. Fresh tom
drums traded at 19.5 cents delivered bor
der.

In New York, prices declined 2 cents
on all sizes. Prices in all other areas were
unchanged, although all weights were
trending lower. The market tone was
barely steady to weak. Retail demand was
slow to moderate. Supplies of the larger
sizes were adequate to ample while the
lighter weights were closely balanced to
sufficient. Breaking stock supplies were
adequate to fully adequate for the light to
moderate demand. Light type fowl were
more than sufficient for the moderate de
mand.

cent. Present week purchases for the week
ending Apr. 25 were 215,289 cases which
was 44 percent below the prior week and

Mostly prices were unchanged on
whites, unchanged to slightly lower on
whole and salt yolks, and slightly lower
on sugar yolks when compared to previ
ous week’s trading. The undertone was
about steady on whole, steady on whites
and barely steady on yolks. Demand was
slightly improved but mostly light to oc
casionally moderate. Offerings were in
close balance to occasionally short on
whites and usually sufficient on other
items. Liquid and frozen eggs (ingredients
included) processed under federal inspec
tion in the Eastern region for the week
ending 19 April 2003 were 8 % less than
last week, and 11% lower than a year ago.

was moderate. Demand was moderate.
Live supplies were moderate for the mar
ket being reported with an estimated
slaughter of 1,342,000 compared to
1,306,000 last Tuesday. Weights were de
sirable. Processing schedules were moder
ate. Supply of thighs and wings were
short, while legs were moderate for the
market being reported today.
Negotiated F. 0.8. dock prices, 2
pounds and heavier ice-packed broilers
and fryers, trucklot sales of US Grade A
or equivalent were steady at .49 - .58 per
pound; less than trucklot sales .50 - .65
per pound.
