FFA Students Compete In Eastern Regional CDE Contests SCHAEFFERSTOWN (Leba non Co.) LMHS Team Tops In Ag Mechanics Lancaster Mennonite High School’s Ag Mechanics FFA team received first place honors at the county Ag Mechanics com petition which took place at Lampeter-Strasburg, Feb. 25. Team members are Ryan Rohrer, son of Edwin and Linda Rohrer, Paradise, who placed first individually; Tony Zimmer man, son of Clair Zimmerman, Denver, and Brenda Lausch, Li titz, second place; Mike Binkley, son of Vickie Binkley, Bausman, fourth; and Todd Denlinger, son of Kenneth and Beverly Denling er, Lancaster, sixth. Skills tested in the competition included electrical trouble shoot ing, plumbing, metal fabrication techniques, construction skills, motor drive mechanism calcula tions, and nutrient management knowledge and calculations. All of the team members have excelled in their agriculture tech nology studies at Lancaster Men nonite which include welding, machinery restoration, engine op eration and repair, and construc tion technology. Big Spring FFA Chapter Places Second In Parliamentary Procedure Big Spring FFA members par ticipated in the Parliamentary Contest and received second place out of four. The Big Spring FFA Chapter members Bernie Nace, presi dent; Jerry Kreiser, vice presi dent; Sara Gutshall, treasurer; Megan Kutz, historian and re porter; Brad Lukens, member; and Zac Ocker, member par ticipated in the contest recently at the farm show complex. The first two places go onto the regional level then the top three move onto the state level. The first place went to Cumber land Valley FFA Chapter, second to Big Spring FFA Chapter, third to Shippensburg FFA Chapter and fourth to the West Perry FFA Chapter. Placing first in the Parliamentary Procedure CDE was Northern Lebanon FFA. Cedar Crest FFA Record Book Winners The State FFA Record Book Contest was conducted in Febru ary at Penn State University. Over 450 books from all over the state were entered. Cedar Crest Members In Speaking Contest Recently, members of the Cedar Crest FFA Chapter com peted in the Lebanon County FFA public speaking contests at Northern Lebanon High School. In the Senior Prepared contest, Jessica Rose placed fourth and Janelle Zimmerman placed first with her speech about milk vend ing machines. Placing at the Eastern Regional CDE for the Creed contest are Melissa Egan from Conrad Weiser High School placing first; placing second was Regina Weaver of the Cloister FFA; placing third was Meghan McHale from Conrad Weiser and placing fourth was Monica Keeney from Lancaster Mennonite High School.
