West Snyder FFA members, Zane Bilger, Tyler Miller, Jeremy Roush, Jessica Harper, and Amanda Shaffer attended the FFA State Legislative Leadership Conference (SLLC), March 9-11, in Harrisburg. FFA members learned table etiquette, opportunities that the FFA offers, and how to read a legislative bill and how the legislative process is conducted. The FFA mem bers split into blue and gold groups to represent the Dem ocrats and Republicans. Each person also served on a bill committee. On Tuesday members had breakfast with their legisla tors. Hannah Etzler, who at tended the conference as a second year scholar, assisted the state officer team in the administration of the confer ence. She was one of twenty two Pennsylvania applicants for this scholarship opportu nity and was one of six select ed for the honor. While at the conference, she assisted the PA FFA state officer team in conducting the leadership workshops, the evening re flections, and served as a leader on the group tours. Mifflinburg FFA Members Place At Farm Show, Help At Inaugural Ball Three Mifflinburg Area High School FFA demonstration teams recently placed at the State Farm Show in Harrisburg. The lawn mower safety demon stration team placed third in the state. Team members were Shanda Bingaman, Penny Spangler, and Jessica Zimmerman. Jamie Camp, Rhonda Hook, Amie Hunselman, and Brianna Smith placed 15th in the state for their demonstration on landscaping and home irrigation. Chapter members entered a win dow exhibit display that dealt with biosecurity, which placed eighth in the state. Jamie Camp, Rhonda Hook, and Penny Spangler assisted in the coat room before, during and after the ball. Glenn Spangler, FFA advi sor, accompanied the students and helped with security and checked tickets at the door. Lebanon Co. FFA Record Book Contest Over 90 books were entered in the Lebanon County FFA record book contest at Cedar Crest High School. Local schools that participated were Northern Lebanon, Elco, and Cedar Crest. The books were scored on neatness, accuracy, and complete ness. (570)538-3557
