KET: Majority prices were unchanged
on both light and heavy canners when
compared to a week earlier. Demand was
mostly fair to good with very light trading
on heavy canners. Offerings were in close
balance to short with product well cleared
at most locations. The undertone was at
least steady.

with out freight cost: LIGHT CANNER
HENS: Line run without necks: 20-25.00,
majority 22.5-23.00. HEAVY CANNER
HENS; Without necks: 29-35, majority
31-32.

Trade sentiment was barely steady to
weak in the Midwest, steady to about
steady elsewhere. Demand overall was
seasonally slow to fair with trading
limited to regular commitments; however,
interest was strongest for fast food
promotions, retail and Easter related ads.
Supplies of all sizes were adequate to
ample for trade needs. In the parts struc
ture, tenders were balanced to tight with
the best movement, and the remaining
items were at least sufficient or available.
In production areas, live supplies were
moderate. Weights were desirable to
heavy, mostly desirable.

LIGHTS: The market tone was steady on
8-16 lb frozen hens and 16-24 lb toms. De
mand light to moderate, best on frozen for
Thanksgiving and best on fresh for Eas
ter. No sales reported for frozen with
moderate sales reported for fresh. Offer
ings adequate for current requirements.
The bulk parts and meats was slow with
most buyers cautious and price con-
science.
EXPORT MARKET HIGHLIGHTS:
Trading was slow with sales centered on
mechanically separated turkey and tom
drums. Supplies in a full range, mostly
adequate to fully adequate. Demand from
buyers price selective also.

Movement of ready-to-cook whole birds
was moderate. Demand was moderate.
Live supplies were moderate for the mar
ket being reported with an estimated
slaughter of 1,131,000 compared to
1,293,000 last Tuesday. Weights were de
sirable. Processing schedules were moder
ate. Supply of wings are short for the
market being reported.
Negotiated F. 0.8. dock prices, 2
pounds and heavier ice-packed broilers
and fryers, trucklot sales of US Grade A
or equivalent were steady at .49 - .59 per
pound; less than trucklot sales .50 - .65
per pound.
