Trucklot buying activity remained light
and selective during midweek trading as
dealers saw no need to extend floor stocks
beyond current needs. Offerings of bone
less-skinless breasts were available at dis
counted levels and bone-m breasts were at
least sufficient. Tenderloins were noted as
closely cleared. Wings were fully suffi
cient and the balance of cuts ranged ade
quate to fully adequate. Retail and distri
butive draw was seasonally light. The
market tone was steady to fully steady on
tenderloins, barely steady to weak on
boneless-skinless breasts and wings: no
better than steady on the remainder of
items

Mostly prices were unchanged on
whites, slightly higher on whole, irregular
on sugar yolks, and unchanged to lower
on salt yolk when compared to previous
week’s trading. The undertone ranged
fully steady to mostly steady on whites,
steady but improved on whole, and about
steady to cautious on yolks Trading was
moderate on whole eggs, light to moder
ate on yolks, and light to limited on
whites. Offerings were irregular but
usually adequate on most items Liquid
and frozen eggs (ingredients included)
processed under federal inspection in the
Eastern region for the week ending 16

Movement of ready-to-cook
whole birds was slow and often
noted as insufficient in keeping sell
er offerings cleared satisfactorily.
Live supplies were moderate;
weights continued to vary in a full
range, but tended to be more readi
ly available on the smaller sizes
Processor schedules were moderate
to light. Less than trucklot asking
prices were unchanged at 52 to 62
cents. Trade sentiment was at best
steady. In the parts complex, ten
ders cleared well. Leg quarters,
drums and thighs were adequate
and in manageable balance. Other
cuts were available and were gener
ally slow in clearing.
